Trinity College Dublin (TCD) have been an Oracle Apps and Tech customer for a number of years and utilising Oracle to good effect as the key platform, especially within the Finance Services Division (FSD). In alignment TCD Finance Systems and Finance teams have been very successful award winners from accounting bodies in UK and Ireland in recent years. Thus the need was established on a continuous improvement basis, in 2019-20, to look to new enhanced Cloud based IT Architecture for TCD, which will then be pertinent for the coming years. As a key part of that journey we will focus in on how TCD have planned and designed to move to Oracle Analytics and Oracle Analytics for Apps and how they have initiated the move from on-premise BI Apps and OBI to OAC and integration with PBCS also. Customer case study and presentation with both TCD and Vertice, with business and architecture insights in the journey.

While on the surface, it appears that digital transformation is all about technology and methodology, that’s the easy part. The hard part is about people. Digital transformation requires the right people with the right skills in the right environment. Digital transformation requires a new culture. This talk will discuss what organizations need to do to implement and scale a digital transformation and what the County of Santa Clara is doing.

To gain experience and grow skills with the Spatial & Graph library that is now available in Oracle's Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW), we have built a network graph on top of railroad data that the government of India makes available at https://data.gov.in/resources/indian-railways-time-table-trains-available-reservation-01112017. We suspect that our experiences will be of interest to others desiring to build a large ADW graph for other use-cases in other industries, and the following provides a progress report with lessons learnt.

The movements of the many trains that travel across this railroad network also trace a graph whose nodes are train stations and whose edges are the connecting railroad segments. The transactional input data details the motions of roughly 10K distinct trains as they execute about 200K trips along 20K distinct rail segments that connect 10K railroad stations, all in a single day in India. So our first step is to compose an Oracle Machine Learning (OML) notebook that distills that transactional input data down to two aggregate ADW tables: one table listing the 10K nodes and their summed properties (total number of trains visiting each station & number of edges radiating from each station), and an edges table containing 20K records detailing mean train speed and distance between adjacent stations. Building the graph in ADW is then a blissfully simple SQL one-liner.

We then compose another OML notebook to ask the usual sorts of questions of this graph, such as: what is the shortest path (time-wise and distance-wise) connecting two arbitrary stations. The resulting path is then decorated with all adjacent stations that are one or two train-rides away, with those results then exposed to Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) as derived ADW tables. Note that the graph of the entire India railroad network is too large to visualize in OAC (the 10K edges and nodes overwhelms an OAC canvas), so we used a variety of methods to filter this graph in a way that extracts this railroad network's main artery containing the busiest nodes and edges.

This effort's final task will be to sprinkle this ADW graph with numerous virtual traveling agents, and to train a machine-learning algorithm to direct the movements of these agents across this graph in a way that maximizes the virtual rewards gathered by these agents while minimizing travel time and expense. Progress achieved on this final task will be reported at conference time, where we will also show how our solution to this Pacman-like problem is relevant to ADW users in sales and finance.

This session will discuss Digital Transformation with focus on Internet of Things (IoT) and related Emerging Technologies. The customers and practioners in the Panel will discuss their scenarios of Digital Transformation to add efficiency and new digital revenues to their companies and customer scenarios. They will go in to the details of the Emerging Technologies  that enable IoT.

As an Intelligent Content Platform for these enterprises we need to understand their specialized content better to help improve content discoverabilty.In this session, we will cover how we are leveraging Oracle Machine Learning [OML] platform to enable: Customization of machine learning models seamlessly with a handful of tagged images from the enterprises [a tire is not just tagged as 'tire' but the specific type of tire, or a shoe as the specific shoe depending on the enterprise].Taking discoverabilty a step forward, instead of tagging a image as 'shoe', what if we can hotspot the shoe, and make it shoppable right from the image? We will describe how we are leveraging OML object detection techniques to make Shoppable content a reality for our Enterprise customers.

Apps Associates Empowers DTCC with Real-Time Data by Implementing Oracle Analytics Cloud. DTCC made the decision to implement Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), and migrate their existing ERP, EPBCS and JDE datasets to Oracle’s Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW). Results: In a span of only 3 months, all data was transitioned. Apps’ Financial Accelerator package of pre-built ETL and dashboards/reports, Finance & HR were able to quickly deploy a wealth of data and BI content from Oracle Financials Cloud and HCM into the new analytics environment. DTCC is no longer reliant on their IT team for reporting needs or database upkeep. All crucial data points are readily available from a user friendly environment allowing employees to pull reports on a click of a button. Business users now have self-services reporting in real time.
