Architecting Analytic Warehouses for Analytics
This session answers architecture questions related to the overall structure and strategy for an enterprise analytics system. How do we design a data warehouse for analytics purposes? What do we integrate into a central warehouse or maintain in separate data marts? How do we integrate long term storage systems that we need to query only occasionally? How do we integrate real-time data streaming? What ETL and integration strategies and tools are we going to use? Where and how do we extend our raw data with calculated measures and analytic functions? How do we create a system that has a strong foundation, but can grow and evolve over time? This presentation will draw from real-world data architecture projects that were designed with analytics in mind. Included will be a discussion of considerations when designing for Autonomous Data Warehouses.

Defining an Analytics Strategy
Choices, choices, choices. How do you modernise your existing Oracle business intelligence, data warehouse and analytics platform. When, or even if, should you move to cloud, how do you establish data science capability in your organisation, how do you combine self service reporting with traditional enterprise BI, should you create a data lake, is Hadoop still a ‘thing’, how do you provide any type of governance, and most importantly once, you have decided what you want to do, how do you achieve it.

Maps and Spatial Databases: How to use them
Spatial databases manage, store, and query data with a location element. Oracle Database is a multimodel database that supports simple geometries such as points, lines, and polygons, and complex structures such as 3D objects, topological coverages, linear networks, and raster and gridded data, with scalability, security, and performance. Oracle technologies, including a new self-service map-based tool, make it easy to include location in analytics, mobile, asset management, and service applications. Built-in SQL, REST, Java, and JavaScript APIs with JSON let you analyze addresses, GPS coordinates, coverage areas, territories and other geographic information. Learn all about Oracle’s rich set of spatial data management and development features in this session.

How Data Warehouse and Data Mining make FinTech Marketing more effective
Forth Smart is a FinTech business based in Thailand, where we have more than 120,000 topping-up kiosks throughout the country. Our customers can top-up their mobile credits by cash, as well as transfer money and pay utility bills. Forth Smart is also moving into selling physical products. In this presentation, I will demonstrate how a Machine Learning Model is used to predict the sales of soft drinks and the amount of inventory that should be kept based on location, drinks types and season. Moreover, I will discuss on the prospects of using the Python language in Oracle Machine Learning Tools to utilize TensorFlow Algorithms but now with in-database analytics.I will also like to provide updates on the work that I have discussed last year and elaborate with the audience about the success and challenges that I have faced. The updates include integrating results from Machine Learning Models to Facebook Audience, spatial analytics with GPS Coordinates and more use cases.

Event Hub (i.e. Kafka) in Modern Data (Analytics) Architecture
Today's modern data architectures and the their implementations contain an Event Hub. What are the benefits of placing an Event Hub in a Modern Data (Analytics) Architecture? What exactly is an Event Hub and what capabilities should it provide? Why is Apache Kafka the most popular realization of an Event Hub? These and many other questions will be answered in this session. The talk will start with a vendor-neutral definition of the capabilities of an Event Hub. Then the session will highlight the different architecture styles which can be supported using an Event Hub (Kafka), such as Streaming Data Integration, Stream Analytics and Decoupled Event-Driven Applications and how can these be combined into a unified architecture, making the Event Hub the central nervous system of an enterprise architecture. We will end with an overview of the Kafka ecosystem and a placement of the various components onto the Modern Data (Analytics) Architecture.

The Changing Role of DBA: From Database Developer to Data Scientist in 6 Weeks
DBAs spend time dealing with maintenance, security and outage issues with little time for innovation. Self-driving, self-securing and self-repairing Autonomous Databases free data professionals to leverage domain knowledge and data skills to extract more value from their data. Oracle Machine Learning, part of Autonomous Database, “moves the algorithms to the data” for in-database processing of machine learning algorithms that eliminate data movement. Now, the entire machine learning process: problem statement, data understanding and preparation, model building and evaluation, model apply and model deployment runs inside the Oracle Database. Database developers perform many supporting tasks today, typically 80% of the work, but refer to them as ETL, data wrangling, data transformations and productionizing scripts. Come learn how ADW, ATP and Oracle Machine Learning makes it easy for you to easily expand your valuable data skills and become “data scientists” in just 6 weeks!

Planning my Summer Vacation using Python, Machine Learning and Oracle Cloud
I'm planning the family summer vacation. This year is going to be a little different. This year I'm going to use Python, Machine Learning and Oracle Cloud to plan the vacation. It will be a driving holiday in Scotland, but what places do we visit and in what order? Using details of local landmarks and family personal interest, Python and machine learning are used to identify different groupings of local landmarks matching those interests. Combining the outputs of the Python Machine Learning a driving route will be planned to optimise the number of landmarks to visit, where to stay and what else to visit and then saving the details to Oracle Cloud. Do one thing for me! Don't tell my family this is how our vacation is being planned.

Easy ML for everybody in OAC: how good is compared to hand-made code?
Augmented Analytics is the new buzzword. OAC offers access to ML techniques in few clicks. Not a single line of code has to be written: load a dataset, click through the screen to setup a ML model and few more clicks to train and apply it to any other dataset you could have. Machine Learning couldn't be as simple and easy of access as that. The easiest way to democratize ML. Anyone can do ML, without having to go through linear algebra, various theoretical concepts and code to implement it. But does it really work? Can something as accessible as that be as effective as machine learning done by code? Analysing the dataset, doing features engineering and finally training a model to be able to apply to new data later. This session will use the same exact dataset and compare how ML can be done in OAC and in Python (using an Apache Zeppelin or Jupyter notebook). The results of the ML model will be compared to see how the two methods compare in accuracy.

Security and Privacy for Big Data Analytics -- the good, the bad, and the ugly
Today everyone understands the high value of data insights - the “new gold” of 21st century. To deliver business insights we need to collect the data (from various heterogonies data sources), store it efficiently (usually in a Data Lake), and processed it fast (real time or historical trends). The four Vs of the data (volume, variety, velocity, and veracity) already present their own challenges, but the 5th V - value – is only possible if the data is properly secured and protected at every step of the way. Alternatively, the value will turn against us and instead of benefits the same valuable data could bring us serious troubles. This session will provide an overview of the global security and privacy requirements for data acquisition, storage, and processing, as well as the most common paths for achieving proper security posture for data and analytics. We will review some of the most common data exposures and share some hands-on experience in applying the security best practices.

Apps Associates Empowers DTCC With Real-Time Data by Implementing OAC
Apps Associates Empowers DTCC with Real-Time Data by Implementing Oracle Analytics Cloud. DTCC made the decision to implement Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), and migrate their existing ERP, EPBCS and JDE datasets to Oracle’s Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW). Results: In a span of only 3 months, all data was transitioned. Apps’ Financial Accelerator package of pre-built ETL and dashboards/reports, Finance & HR were able to quickly deploy a wealth of data and BI content from Oracle Financials Cloud and HCM into the new analytics environment. DTCC is no longer reliant on their IT team for reporting needs or database upkeep. All crucial data points are readily available from a user friendly environment allowing employees to pull reports on a click of a button. Business users now have self-services reporting in real time.
