Annually, the Finance and Administration Division at the University of Akron calculates the KPMG and SB6 Financial Metrics from audited financial statements in order to provide the CFO with one of many means of analyzing and assessing the financial health of the university. This information is shared with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in order to maintain accreditation for the university. This case study will review the business challenges related to the manual legacy process, and the business benefits of the new modern analytics system. Attendees will learn about the features and benefits of the Oracle Analytics Cloud Service (OAC) and the final outcomes and benefits of the new system to the university.

Natural Language Generation (NLG) is a groundbreaking capability recently added to Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC). Rather than leave a user to understand a visualization, OAC now offers the ability to generate a textual analysis of a dataset to identify trends and outliers. This session will cover how best to incorporate natural language into your data storytelling experience. In addition, configuring the Search Index options in the OAC Console will be covered, to enhance the experience of BI Ask, which enables impromptu visualizations from both voice and textual user guidance.
