Today everyone understands the high value of data insights - the “new gold” of 21st century. To deliver business insights we need to collect the data (from various heterogonies data sources), store it efficiently (usually in a Data Lake), and processed it fast (real time or historical trends). The four Vs of the data (volume, variety, velocity, and veracity) already present their own challenges, but the 5th V - value – is only possible if the data is properly secured and protected at every step of the way. Alternatively, the value will turn against us and instead of benefits the same valuable data could bring us serious troubles. This session will provide an overview of the global security and privacy requirements for data acquisition, storage, and processing, as well as the most common paths for achieving proper security posture for data and analytics. We will review some of the most common data exposures and share some hands-on experience in applying the security best practices.
